One of my friend asked me how to get off win7 Starter from his netbook.
I installed Ubuntu on it B-).
Almost everything worked out of the box but audio.
Many people got seriously a lot of problem trying to solve it (even just partially) but this is, imho, the easiest way to solve it completely 🙂
Let’s upgrade to the newest kernel 2.6.32-3! B-)
Add in your repository
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/apw/green/ubuntu karmic main
then
sudo apt-get update
Finally install the most update version of the linux-image and linux-kernel you find in your packet manager (at the moment 2.6.32-3, the one I installed 🙂 )
Ps: PAE option regards just the compatibility with more than 4GB for 32bit systems 😉
Take care to add to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
options snd-hda-intel index=0 model=auto
BLUETOOTH: take a look at this post
